Clinical significance:
MPO can be used as a biomarker for acute coronary syndromes, including unstable angina and myocardial infarction. Studies have shown that elevated MPO levels are independently associated with adverse vascular events (MACE) in patients with ACS.
Elevated levels of MPO are associated with increased susceptibility to coronary artery disease and can therefore be used as a predictor of cardiovascular disease (CVD) occurrence, progression and prognosis.
Main clinical applications:
1.Assisting in the early diagnosis of acute coronary syndromes;
2.Independent prediction of risk of cardiovascular disease due to atherosclerosis.
